DVD Review: One Tree Hill Season 1

So, I had this DVD for over a year before I finally watched it with the gf… and it turned out to be pretty good. The story revolves around the Scott half-brothers, Lucas, who has been raised by his mother, and Nathan, who has been raised by a dominant father. Nathan is the Tree Hill basketball team star, while Lucas is the incumbent, who gets brought onto the team when half the team gets suspended. Also in the mix are three girls… Peyton, Nathan’s ex who falls for Lucas, her cheerleader bestfriend, and Lucas’s bestfriend who’s a tutor nerd. Anyways, the tutor nerd is the worst character by far – always thinking she’s holier than everyone else, and when she makes mistakes, it’s always someone else’s fault. Tons of three way conflicts between both the kids, and the parents… just a lot of odd scenarios, which is what these teen dramas are usually based around. Season 1 was pretty ridiculous at times, and the plot-lines weren’t rocket science. Moira Kelly (The Cutting Edge) is the only real “name” on the show. Not as well written as Dawson’s Creek, and not as edgy as The OC’s first season, but it was still entertaining (7/10).

In related news, Chad Michael Murray (Lucas) apparently wasn't allowed to go to the Prom with his 18yr old girlfriend last week (school rules... he's too old to go), so he bought her a new mercedes instead.... nice... for some reason, he broke up his marriage with co-star Sophia Bush for his new girl (who was an extra on the show too). Celebs are weird.
