Movie Review: The Kite Runner

The film adaptation of Khaled Hosseini’s best selling novel is very true to the original story… it does a good job of running through the main events in the story, although I have to say, it was not anywhere close to as powerful as the novel. The novel was so strong in bringing out emotion, and while it did bring Shaun’s mom to tears a number of times, it just didn’t do it for me. The most remarkable and tragic parts of the story were not emphasized, and the sequences, particularly the parts while they are in the US, were pretty stale. Great story; but it did not translate to greatness on screen. Overall, pretty good… but just no where close to as great as it could have been. (5/10).
