Book Review: Ender's Game

This book, written in 1985, won both the Hugo Award for best novel, but also the Nebula Award as well (both science fiction awards). Orson Scott Card’s tale about Ender Wiggin, the third child on an earth where there is a two child limit, is fascinating, and impossible to put down. Card follows Ender as a child as he is shaped by various people into becoming earth’s hope for salvation, in their galactic war against the “buggers”. The majority of the story is around Ender’s life at Battle School, where he encounters challenge after challenge, which naturally he eventually overcomes, which prepares him for his battle against the buggers. This story is fantastic. Best science fiction story I’ve ever read hands down. Read it. (9/10). Wolfgang Peterson, director of Troy and The Perfect Storm, is currently developing Ender’s Game into a movie, which should hit theatres in 2008. I sincerely hope it won’t turn out to be another Starship Troopers…
