DVD Review: Prison Break Season 1
I kept hearing good the hype about this show… so I thought, why not? It took me about 9 or 10 episodes before I really got into the show, as it was really slow to start… or at least it wasn’t very endearing to start with. I just never really got the concept of getting arrested to break out of jail thing either… but after getting by that plot point, the show started to grow on me a bit. It’s an exciting fastpaced show for sure, and has some fascinating characters, like the wily but evil prison guard Bellick, and the crazy cons like mobster John Abrusi, and the diabolically gay and evil T-Bag, and Special Agent Paul Kellerman. Unfortunately there’s a lot of ‘tards too, like C-Note and Sucre, who don’t see to have much to do with anything, and appear to be really really dumb. Why these guys want to break out, doesn’t make any sense… but I guess most cons aren’t supposed to be that bright anyways… “let’s break out and then go see our families right away”… that’s a brilliant plan. The worst part of the show is suffering through what Wentworth Miller calls acting. He plays Michael Schofield, the main character, who plots the escape by tattooing the plans to the building on his body… why does do it? Well, he wants to break his brother out of prison, who is on death row. Naturally, by season’s end, he’s successful. Wentworth plays him the same way he played the male cheerleader when he was on Popular… the guy cannot act. Or rather, he can act… but his characters are all the same. Anyways, it was a good waste of time in the end, but it took a long time for me to believe it was worth watching at all. Slow start, better latter half… and not a great end. It’s worth a watch, but there’s lots of better stuff out there… (6/10).
