Larry Fishburne...

In honour of meeting Laurence Fishburne in NYC this week, I thought I'd do a very quick overview of his wonderful career...

The Good: The Matrix (1999) turned Larry into a known star as Morpheus, but he's certainly been around for a while. He's had a few great roles in Just Cause (1995) with Sean Connery, and as Ike Turner in What's Love got to Do with it (1991). Heck, he was even in Apocalypse Now way back in 1979...

The Bad: Unfortunately, everytime Larry has a big movie he follows it up with crap... like The Matrix Revolutions, or Osmosis Jones, or Event Horizon, or Higher Learning or Hoodlum... the list is endless...

The Ugly: Fishburne used to be Cowboy Curtis on Peewee's Playhouse... No really!... See upper right corner...

Well anyways, it's September, so all the new TV shows are starting to appear. I saw an episode of the new Michael Rappaport (Phoebe's policeman bf from Friends... the one that shot the pigeons) show, "The War at Home"... quite vulgar... here's a show about a racist homo-phob, with lots of swearing, and really screwed up kids. A mix between Family Guy and Married with Children... except, not as funny. Haven't had a chance to see anything else... but I hope the other new shows are a bit better than this one...

In other news, my friend Ashish, along with a few others, is starting a new initiative... PLAY is about two things - creating new, fun things to do and finding new ways for people to meet around common interests. Check it out at www.playspace.ca (http://www.playspace.ca/). Their first event, Talk! 101 The Art of Conversation (http://www.playspace.ca/events.html) is only two weeks away on Saturday, September 24... check it out if you get a chance!
