Two days to the NBA draft...

With two days to the draft, it looks like more is clear in the NBA draft picture… Right now according to DraftExpress.com, it looks there is a deal in place whereby Atlanta will draft Brandon Roy (if available) at #5, and then trade him to Houston for Luthor Head and Sheldon Williams, who they will draft at #8… so barring other trades, or Roy getting selected earlier, the order so far looks like this:

1. Toronto: A
2. Chicago: Tyrus Thomas
3. Charlotte: B
4. Portland: C
5. Houston: Brandon Roy
6. Minnesota: D
7. Boston: E
8. Atlanta: Sheldon Williams

My guesses for the empty spots:
A – LaMarcus Aldridge
B - Rudy Gay
C - Adam Morrison
D – Rodney Carney
E – Marcus Williams

Various other rumours are going around… one of them has Ray Allen (with his max contract) and #10 coming to the Raptors for a combination of players plus the #1 pick. Presumably the #10 pick would be someone like a Rajan Rondo, or perhaps even Bargnani if he falls that low (as some have speculated if the Raps don’t take him first). The Raps apparently loved Randy Foye in his workout too. I like Ray Allen, but not for that price… if they did that deal, they’d be completely saddled from a cap perspective with two max-contract guys (Allen & Bosh). Who knows… there’s tons of rumours floating around these days… here’s a sample (lots from Hoopshype):

- Iverson to Boston, Szerbiak to Utah, Boozer to Philadelphia
- Marian to Seattle for Rashard Lewis and the #10
- Earl Watson and #10 to Toronto for Alvin Williams and #1
- Mike James to Dallas for Marquis Daniels
- Boozer to Milwaukee for Jamal Magloire

Deals that sound completely dead include Toronto swapping picks with Atlanta for Zaza and the Charlotte rumour for Brevin Knight.

More to come...
