Book Review: Ender's Shadow
This 1999 followup to 1985’s Ender’s Game is the fifth in the various series, and I think is just as good as the original. Thanks to a previously blog-reader for recommending reading it!... This one follows the story of Bean, who is in the original Ender’s Game, and his part in the entire story. There are various plot events that happen during the time of Ender’s Game in this one, so it’s interesting to see the interaction between the two books, but this one completely follows things from Bean’s point of view. The mentality and origin of Bean is fascinating, having been genetically bred with hyper-advanced brain functions… he grew up in a gang in Amsterdam, and eventually helped save the entire human race… anyways, fantastic story. Orson Scott Card almost outdoes himself, and actually makes, in many ways, a superior novel. Super-highly recommend (10/10).
