DVD Review: Thundercats Season 1 Part 1

Thunder… Thunder… Thundercats… HOOOOO!... well, I definitely have to give them this much… Thundercats sure had a catchy theme-song and catch-phrase. Thundercats was one of the big 80s cartoons, which followed the adventures of the last remaining Thundercats led by Lion-o. His followers are other Thundercat nobles – Tigra, Cheetara, Panthro (voiced by the Grandpa from the Cosby Show), WilyKit, WilyKat and the every loyal Snarf (aka. Uncle Osbert). The Thundercats leave their home planet and arrive on Third Earth, having been chased by the Mutants (Slythe, Monkian, Jackelman), they face them along with the menace of Mum-ra. The writing and animation in this show were actually pretty good. Supporting characters like Robo-Bill and the Unicorn keepers were kind of lame, but the writers did a good job of integrating old characters and revisiting them throughout the show. There are a lot of lame episodes, and lots that I fast-forwarded through, but it was still a pretty fun show to watch and relive some of those good old 80s days… I’d recommend watching it… but only for a little while… too many of these episodes can drive you crazy…. (6.5/10).
