Raps vs. Cavs - Preseason game #6

Raps win Raps win… 91-90. Last night was my first live look at the new Raptors, and the version that was out there last night (sans Bosh, Ford & Bargnani), certainly wasn’t flashy and certainly weren’t running that much. Those things aside, they still won against a Cavalier team that played LeBron and it’s other starters for much of the game… The Raps held their own, but they were far from being impressive. I think what was amazing was that even without their big three, and with Garbajossa and Anthony Parker having off-games, this team STILL won. That would be unheard of in days past. But suddenly we actually have a bench. Fred Jones showed that he can definitely score… he’s not a shooter by any means, but he’s definitely a scorer. Kris Humphries and Uros Slokar played like they want so PT during the regular season, but they also showed they don’t have great talent. P.J. Tucker showed he has energy, but can’t shoot. LeBron was easily the most impressive guy on the court, frequently taking on two defenders at a time and schooling them easily (ie. Parker & Garbajossa most of the time)… LeBron was sidestepping them and dunking over them at will. Otherwise, the Cavs did not look impressive at all, or at least no better than the Raps.

Raps are now 6-0 in preseason… let’s hope these winning ways spread into the regular season…

Other notes:

- The new seats are pretty good. 2nd row in the Sprite Zone… decent unobstructed view for just $12.50 a game… can’t complain at all… well other than that Helen couldn’t see the numbers of the players.

- Is there anything better than a Union Station hotdog before the game?

- Samuel L. Jackson made an appearance watching the game with Bosh's mom...

Best Player – Fred Jones showed he can score and score a lot. He stood out on this night.
Worst Player – Derrick Martin ate up some time so Calderon could take a break, but he was never in the flow of this game, launching shots any time he felt like it with or without his feet set. Definitely did nothing to help his team out.
