The Allen Iverson deal
The Deal: Iverson (and a scab player) to Denver for Andre Miller, Joe Smith and two first round picks (Dallas's and Denver's)
Who wins?
1. Iverson - he gets out of Philly, and onto a Denver team full of talent
2. Phildelphia - this deal really shows how little the Raptors got for Vince Carter, and that Rob Babcock certainly could have gotten more than paying $10M to Zo, plus Eric and Aaron Williams. Philly got two picks, just as we did, but also got a solid point guard in Miller and a serviceable backup power forward in Joe Smith, who's salary comes off the books after this year. Fantastic deal for Philly. I don't think they could have done any better.
Who loses?
1. Carmelo - he won't be leading the league in scoring for very long after his suspension
2. Denver - way over the salary cap with just Melo, Kenyon, Camby, Iverson and Nene, this team is paying a lot of money for a mediocre team... particularly when Nene inevitably gets hurt, and Camby's legs snap. Iverson will bring excitement and with Melo create a dynamic duo, but they still won't get far against the Spurs, Suns or Mavericks in the West... if they were in the East, that'd be a whole different story!
Overall
Good deal for both teams, as they both get what they want, but Philly wins on this one in the long run, and got a pretty good player back in Miller. Honestly, I'm shocked that they were able to get this much for him.
