Movie Reviews: Rocky Balboa, Happy Feet
A couple movies in theatre...
Rocky Balboa
Sly Stallone accomplishes what no one thought possible. He made another Rocky that was actually pretty good… not great, but pretty good. This one goes back to the dramatic style of the original Rocky. Adrian has passed away, and Rocky is now in his fifties or sixties, running a restaurant. Things are looking bleak for Rocky and Paulie (Burt Young), but then ESPN does a computer simulation of a fight between Rocky and current champ Mason Dixon (Antonio Tarver – the boxer famed for being the first to ever knock out Roy Jones Jr)… this causes a stir and a bankable exhibition fight between the old Rocky and the champ. Good movie overall, but I still like the first four better, I think… (7/10).
Happy Feet
Penguins are born and have a song in their soul… well, except for Mumble (Elijah Wood), who is instead born with an innate desire to dance. He becomes an outcast, and ends up among some latino penguins led by Robin Williams. Mumble begins on his quest to court another penguin Gloria, and then to find out what happened to all the fish. It’s cute, but the songs get a little tiring. Entertaining, but definitely not the quality of the more elite animated films… watch it on DVD. (6/10).
